The magazine TESLA of the Official College and The Association of Industrial Engineers of Madrid publishes the special of the VI edition of CIBITEC24, an initiative born in 2017 in the Association of Industrial Engineers of Madrid, with the purpose of promoting technological development, industrialization and digitization of industry and being the bridge that connects companies and institutions in Spain, and the entire Ibero-American community.

This year, the pillars on which dialogue and collaboration are built focus on the fight against climate change, sustainable development of smart cities, strategic autonomy, scarcity of resources and technological innovation.

Monica Aguilar, ACERTA’s R&D director, talks to us in TESLA magazine about transparency in food waste reduction management that fosters a culture of responsibility and sustainability.

The development of this certified quality mark will be a significant step towards promoting sustainable practices and effective food waste reduction throughout the supply chain by providing a standardized and internationally recognized framework for measuring, monitoring and improving food waste reduction management practices from farm to fork. This certification will encourage companies globally to adopt best practices and innovative technologies that help prevent, manage and minimize waste.

CONFICERT, an international non-profit association made up of different certification bodies, aware of the problem and the need for global regulation, has undertaken the project of creating a brand that identifies to consumers in any country in the world the products that are obtained, processed, transported and marketed by organizations that demonstrate compliance with a standard of good food waste mitigation practices, mainly focused on preventing and eliminating food waste. Implementing and complying with these standards ensures a systematic and rigorous approach to waste reduction, resulting in long-term environmental, economic and social benefits.

CONFICERT intends to take an active role in this change at a global level, informing and raising awareness among food sector operators, through the creation and promotion of a certified quality mark that provides reliability and transparency on the commitment of the food chain agents to adopt good practices to minimize food waste.
